For the foreseeable future, while we live with Covid-19, dog obedience training for dogs over 6 months of age will be offered as home visits only. Please see the Home Visits page.
The course is fun and enjoyable for you and your dog. It is a structured course, each week progressing from the previous week. Therefore, it is important to attend all the classes so that you and your dog benefit from the course. If you do have to miss a class, I am willing to do a “catch-up” session at your home, for a charge of £20.
At the end of each class, comprehensive handouts are given detailing all exercises covered in the class and the methods of training, to use as an aide memoir when training your dog during the week, so that your dog is ready for the next class.
The dog training course compromises of reward-based methods, and covers basic training, tips, and advice including:
Dog Obedience Training
Jumping Up/Greeting Behaviour
‘Stealing Things’ and How to Take Them from the Dog
To Walk Under Control on a Loose Lead/Without a Lead
Recall/ to Come Back When Called
To Stand for Veterinary Consultation or for Grooming
Not to Rush First Through Doorways
Any Other Issues
Please bring plenty of fresh, tasty food treats (e.g. chicken, sausage, ham, liver etc.), a lead, poopy bags, and your dog!
All family members (children over 5 years of age) are welcome in the class. Children over 9 years of age may take part in training in the class.
The cost of the course is £100 to be paid in advance via PayPal or BACS. (Cancellation/refund is discretionary).
