Dog Obedience Training

Dog training classes are for dogs over 6 months of age. I hold these in Botley only, on Tuesdays above the Co-op, Chapel Way, Botley OX2 0PZ, running from 8 pm to 9 pm.

Follow the signs to the Manna café and to the Baptist Church. Use the door next to the shop door and go up to the first floor. There is a lift you may use if you wish.

If your dog is under 6 months of age, please refer to the “Puppy Training” page.

Dog Obedience Training - Location

The course is fun and enjoyable for you and your dog. It is a structured course, each week progressing from the previous week. Therefore, it is important to attend all the classes so that you and your dog benefit from the course. If you do have to miss a class, I am willing to do a “catch-up” session at your home, for a charge of £20.

At the end of each class, comprehensive handouts are given detailing all exercises covered in the class and the methods of training, to use as an aide memoir when training your dog during the week, so that your dog is ready for the next class.

The dog training course compromises of reward-based methods, and covers basic training, tips, and advice including:

Dog Obedience Training

  • Jumping Up/Greeting Behaviour

  • ‘Stealing Things’ and How to Take Them from the Dog

  • To Walk Under Control on a Loose Lead/Without a Lead

  • Recall/ to Come Back When Called

  • To Stand for Veterinary Consultation or for Grooming

  • Not to Rush First Through Doorways

  • Any Other Issues

Please bring plenty of fresh, tasty food treats (e.g. chicken, sausage, ham, liver etc.), a lead, poopy bags, and your dog!
